National Helicopter Services Limited (NHSL) have a full complement of highly skilled and trained maintenance personnel to ensure safety and reliability for all our aircraft in the provision of a first call service to our clients.

Maintenance schedules approved by the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA), have been developed for each helicopter type and encompasses all inspections and procedures, Service Bulletins (SB’s) promulgated by the Manufacturers as well as directives laid down by the TTCAA, the FAA and the CAA of the U.K. The resulting document is considered to be more stringent than the Manufacturer’s Maintenance Schedule thereby improving our reliability and safety of the aircraft.

The Maintenance Department only undertakes line checks and inspections (i.e. troubleshooting and diagnosis) on the helicopters.  Overhauling of components is performed by approved facilities, usually in North America, authorized by the Manufacturers.  All engine components are sent to Premier Turbines, Turbomeca and Keystone, U.S.A and airframe components are sent to Helicopter Support, Sikorsky and American Eurocopter, U.S.A for repair and overhauling.  Most of the other parts are sent directly to the Manufacturer

General Introduction

It is the policy of NHSL that all operations and activities will be conducted in a safe manner and that the Company will provide a safe and healthful work environment.  NHSL recognizes that its personnel constitute one of its most valuable assets and will seek to ensure that employee safety remains the number one priority throughout all of its operations.

The leadership of NHSL is responsible for ensuring that specific safety needs are identified and provided for in all aspects of daily operations.  Each individual in the Company has the responsibility to work safely and to observe safe work practices. 

NHSL remains committed to promoting a strong, viable safety programme.  In order to achieve this, safety guidelines have been published to ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe, efficient manner.  Each individual is expected to follow these safety guidelines as well as related safety instructions.

Each employee is required to read and familiarize themselves with the safety goals contained within the policy.  Only through active involvement and support will we realize our goal of providing a safe work environment.  

There will be no discrimination against any employee who reports unsafe conditions or hazards.  Indeed, personnel are encouraged and required to do so.

All levels of management of NHSL are committed to be involved in the Safety Management System (SMS).
